R&B REVIEWS

Here's my page of R&B album reviews:

PLAYA-Cheers 2 You
(8.0)
This trio is under the same family as Missy and Timbaland, which means you can expect some of the best syncopated beats out today("Don't Stop Da Music"). But Playa doesn't just have the phat beats, they come with smooth vocals also("Cheers 2 You"). This CD is not sleepin' music, it's "let's-go-to-bed" music, perfect for chiLLin' wid your shorty. The LP also features cameos by Missy, Aaliyah, Magoo, and even FOxy Brown. The flow adds more bump to those laid back beats. The group of Smokey, Static, and Black come raw on their first LP, but still has room to grow into the a great R&B group.

DRU HILL-Self Titled
(9.1)
These four Baltimore natives,Woody, Sisqo, Nokio, and Jazz, straight blew up the hip-hop world. Their first singles were instantly best-sellers and were bumped in every bedroom and backseat. Dru Hill has the unique ability to drop smooth lover tracks and bouncy, upbeat club hits. "Tell Me" and "In My Bed" were two instant slow jam successes. The remixes of which were bumped in every club in the U.S. Their whole album is filled with hit songs from start to finish. Sisqo is da charismatic lead but all the members have excellent voices. They also go old skool on some tracks (i.e. "Love Train") as well as hittin' gospel tones wid "Four Steps". R&B fans eagerly anticipate Dru Hill to drop a second LP, but it's gonna be hard to match the mastery of this first one.
